Scenes from Previous Nutcracker Teas
The Buster House Tea Room and Castlemoyle Books will again be decked out in everything Nutcracker for the holidays. Each year, selections from tearoom owner Beverly Adams-Gordon's extensive Nutcracker collection is put on display. Beverly adds something new to her nutcracker collection each year and arranges various vignettes featuring the Nutcrackers throughout the tea room and book store. Last year, she added an Elvis Nutcracker and other humorous and novel nutcrackers. This year, in addition to some new nutcrackers, she will add an appliquéd Nutcracker quilt, festive banners and signs, and a out of this world window display that you won't want to miss. The window display and seasonal decorations will be unveiled on Friday, November 30th at 5:30 p.m.
This year at the Buster House Tea Room's Nutcracker Tea you will enjoy a holiday tea menu worthy of the Sugar Plum Fairy herself. After enjoying a course of Buster House's famous scones served with Devonshire Cream and lemon curd, you'll enjoy a full three tiers of sandwiches, savories (hot hors d'oeuvres), and sweets along with at least four more flavors of tea! You will find traditional treats from many parts of the world on your tea tray. A choice of our special "children's tea" (such as Bubblegum Tea and Tootie Fruitie) are always a favorite with the younger set. They're caffeine free too! Children's tea trays also offer foods that appeal to them such as PB&J pinwheels, gingerbread solders, and among others. Bring a big appetite and your camera to capture all the joy of this annual magical holiday event. Each guest will be presented with a gift as a remembrance of this special tea.
2012 Reservations are available for Noon seatings, Fridays and Saturdays, December 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd.
While both children and adults are welcome to attend tea on either a Friday or a Saturday, a little extra magic is planned for the children attending our Saturday teas. At these teas, you will be greeted at the door by the Nutcracker Prince who will escort you and your guests to the Grand Fireplace area of the store. There the Sugar Plum Fairy will read the traditional Story of The Nutcracker. Following the story, the Nutcracker Prince will escort you to your tea table. The children's teas end with a visit from the jolly old man himself bearing a special gift for each child. All guests attending these teas may have their photo taken with the Nutcracker Prince, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and/or Santa..
